AFN Trunk Show — Afro Hair, Fashion & Art Inspired by Kerry James Marshall

An evening where Afro hair is celebrated, African fashion is worn with pride, and art moves through the room like a living thing.

To close out the ZAF Impact Summit, we invite you to the AFN Trunk Show & Afterparty — a vibrant celebration of Afro hair, fashion, art, and community, inspired by the extraordinary work of American painter Kerry James Marshall.

Kerry James Marshall has spent decades insisting on the beauty, complexity, and humanity of Black life through his art — filling canvases with richly dark-skinned figures rendered in bold color and undeniable presence. That same spirit of visibility, pride, and joy runs through everything we do at ZAF. This evening is a tribute to that vision.

"An evening of Afro hair, fashion, art, and celebration — this is what it looks like when African culture takes centre stage."

The Trunk Show brings together independent designers and makers showcasing their latest collections — a rare opportunity to discover, try on, and purchase pieces directly from the creatives behind them. From statement garments to accessories rooted in African heritage, this is fashion at its most personal and immediate.

And when the shopping is done, the party begins. The Afterparty carries the energy of the entire day forward — music, movement, and the kind of connections that only happen when community gathers with intention.
